Netflix has premiered the first teaser trailer for its mini-series adaptation of Walter Tevis’ coming-of-age novel “The Queen’s Gambit” which is set to premiere on the service on October 23rd.
Anya Taylor-Joy (“The New Mutants,” “Split”) plays Beth Harmon, a young girl abandoned and entrusted to a Kentucky orphanage in the late 1950s. She discovers an astonishing talent for chess while developing an addiction to tranquilizers provided by the state as a sedative for the children.
