Parents have issued a warning to families planning on seeing the Matteo Garrone-directed live-action film Pinocchio, saying it’s “extremely violent”.
The 2019 Italian film is now being shown in cinemas around the world and is separate to the upcoming Disney live-action remake.
This version has been labelled “frighteningly true” to the 1883 novel, with ‘graphic’ scenes that include the puppet being placed in a noose and hung from a tree.
