Godolphin head trainer James Cummings sent us diving for our old Latin schoolbooks when assessing the chances of Cascadian and Savatiano in Saturday’s Group I Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
Cummings often sends his thoughts on each stakes runner to the media after acceptances but he dropped in a curveball in the Memsie Stakes edition.
“The Memsie is traditionally a good horse’s race. Res ipsa loquitur,” Cummings said.
