A total of 17 counties saw an increase in infections over the period
A smaller county saw the biggest spike of coronavirus cases in Ireland over the last 24 hours, new statistics reveal.
Tipperary, which is only the 12th biggest county by population, reported more new infections than anywhere else last night with 31 cases.
This was followed by Dublin, which has so far been the epicentre of the outbreak here, with 17 new cases.
Other counties with significant spikes include Clare and Wexford, both with seven, and Kildare with five.
