Lining up to replace China’s Mengniu – The Australian Financial Review
Josh Frydenberg’s personal decision to block the takeover of Lion’s dairy and drinks business by the Chinese gives Australia’s Bega Cheese – and others – the opportunity to pursue the target.
But Bega was busy digesting previous acquisitions when Lions assets came on the market two years ago.
At the companys first-half results in March, Irvin said Bega remained open to further dairy consolidation opportunities and argued that the company was in a strong position to capitalise on growing demand for natural products.
