Bee Tee Junior prevailed in a slugfest to claim Sunday’s Grand National Steeplechase (4500m) at Ballarat.
Extremely heavy conditions greeted the runners with the bottomless track prompting stewards to remove a jump in the home straight to spare tired horses one final leap.
Bee Tee Junior only had one jump to negotiate in the straight but that obstacle gave the gelding’s jockey Lee Horner an anxious moment as he jumped it awkwardly.
