Stewards abandon Melbourne meeting with four races remaining

Racing Victoria stewards have abandoned the meeting at The Valley for safety reasons after just five races following persistent heavy rain in Melbourne on Saturday.
Chief steward Robert Cram told Racing.com that stewards had been closely watching conditions deteriorate during the day to the point where racing was no longer deemed viable after the fifth race won by Jittery Jack.
