The sendoff of Kristiana Manu’a is netball’s biggest story so far this year, but it is a story that didn’t have to happen.
Granted the challenge by Manu’a was clumsy. It was marginally late, and, in fact, it saw Manu’a come off second-best afterwards when she careered into the goal post. But an offence that warranted her being suspended from play? No way. Having said that she was only suspended for a grand total of two minutes, which the Giants weathered until she returned to play.
