In all the droopy-eyed chaos of Sunday, Daniel Cormier’s retirement from mixed martial arts was somewhat overlooked.
Cormier himself barely wanted to talk about it; he was far more interested in blasting the eye poke that apparently blinded him. And to be fair, we all knew it was coming; the 41-year-old was only fighting because he had a chance to finish with a belt, and maybe more importantly, bragging rights in an all-time rivalry.
Instead, Cormier, due to the eye poke or not, ends his career in the saddest way possible.
