A driver in a private vehicle surpassed road closures and made it onto the closed racecourse in the final kilometers of Il Lombardia on Saturday, cutting off German Max Schachmann of Bora-Hansgrohe in a corner and causing him to crash into the side of the car and break his collarbone.
Its as of yet unclear how the unauthorized driver and vehicle made it onto the racecourse.
