Melbourne into top eight after crushing Magpies – The Age
The Demons moved into the top eight with their third-straight win while the Magpies missed the opportunity to temporarily sneak into the top four with more injury dramas and butchered ball.
Collingwood lost Brody Mihocek in the second quarter when he crashed head-first into the turf after a marking contest. Injury-prone key forward Ben Reid (hamstring) was a casualty early in the third term when he disappeared down the race with Magpies medical staff.
Collingwood welcomed back Scott Pendlebury but even the silky skipper fell into the Magpie malaise of wasting the ball going forward on one occasion.
