After you’ve finished the first part of ovarian cancer treatment, maintenance therapy will help keep your cancer from coming back. What medicine you take depends on your cancer’s genetic makeup.

Once youve finished the first stage of your treatment, which is usually some combination of chemotherapy and surgery, you reach a sort of milestone. Now the focus shifts from getting rid of as much of your cancer as possible, to making sure that it doesnt come back. That second phase of treatment is known as maintenance therapy.
