Brett Sutton says lower cases are a result of Melburnians wearing masks and Stage 3 restrictions, while also revealing when Stage 4 impacts might begin to appear.
Victorias Chief Health Officer says he is confident the state has seen its peak and turned a corner when it comes to coronavirus.
On Friday, there were 372 new cases and 14 further deaths after multiple days of lower case numbers in the 200s.
Brett Sutton said the lower cases were a result of Melburnians wearing masks and Stage 3, and the state was yet to see the effects of the stricter Stage 4.
