On Aug. 12, 2005, NASA launched the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on top of an Atlas V rocket. After more than a decade in space, MRO has proven to be one of NASAs most industrious Martian orbiters, having mapped the Red Planet in remarkable detail.
