Mosquito-borne dengue fever, Japanese encephalitis detected in Queensland
An elderly Townsville man has been hospitalised with dengue fever, marking the region’s first breakthrough case of the mosquito-borne virus in five years.
There have been just four cases of dengue fever in the north Queensland city since 2013 following a successful elimination program.
