Police seize illegal fireworks and weapons, dozens of assaults reported across Melbourne

Police responded to dozens of assaults but say they were overwhelmingly pleased with the behaviour of Melbourne New Year’s Eve revellers.

Victoria Police said officers responded to 52 assaults as Melburnians gathered to watch fireworks displays and ring in the New Year at multiple locations.
