The decision by global entertainment giants to launch their own streaming services will have long-term ramifications for the local players.

Paying to watch television over the internet was simpler (in Australia at least) when Stan launched in January 2015. Stan bought hundreds of thousands of hours of movies and programs such as Better Call Saul, Billions and Captain America from a range of big US entertainment companies in what is known as an aggregation model.
