Goodwin wants Gawn protected, Shaw lashes his Roos – The Age
Dees coach says ruckman Max Gawn needs better protection from off-the-ball attention, while North coach says his side ‘shot themselves in the foot’ after a poor display in Sunday’s loss.

“If you cross the line youre fit to play but I think the rule would state that blocking should occur within five metres of the ball. When its happening 50 metres, 100 metres, 20 metres, 30 metres, thats a different kettle of fish for me. Thats what we need to stop, and remove from our game.”
The Demons coach said Gawn and Jack Viney (concussion) would be fit for Melbourne’s next match against Collingwood.
