Construction industry fails in ‘misconceived’ flexibility push – Sydney Morning Herald
The national industrial tribunal said it could revisit the issue at short notice as Victoria’s restrictions on the industry start to bite.
Australian Workers Union national secretary Daniel Walton, whose union opposed the claim and represents workers on civil projects, said he was thankful the commission had rejected the employers’ claim, which he said was intended to boost construction companies’ bottom line at workers’ expense.
“Hopefully this decision will give these employer groups a little chance to reflect on how out of step their agenda is with community expectations,” Mr Walton said.
