Holden rejects ‘conspiracy theory’ on timing of Australian exit – Sydney Morning Herald
GM Holden’s Australian chairman Kristian Aquilina has told a Senate inquiry that the automaker has done everything it can to help car dealers burnt by its planned departure.
“I just want to put to bed this whole conspiracy theory that it’s been a long held view from General Motors to unwind our operations right across south-east Asia and Australia,” Mr Aquilina told the inquiry.
Mr Aquilina also defended the compensation amount of $1500 per vehicle General Motors had agreed to pay to Holden dealers and said 90 per cent of dealers had accepted the compensation and would continue to provide service and parts to Holden’s 1.6 million Australian customers.
