Queensland Health Crisis Town Hall heads to Nambour

Dozens of locals from across the Sunshine Coast have registered their interest to attend the latest Queensland Health Crisis Town Hall in Nambour today.
Leader of the Opposition David Crisafulli is bringing the popular format to the Sunshine Coast, following successful town halls in Cairns, Rockhampton, Redcliffe, Caboolture, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast.
Mr Crisafulli said the horror stories about Caboolture Hospital were made public because of the brave Queenslanders coming forward.
“An investigation into alleged botched surgeries at Caboolture Hospital has now been launched,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“We’ve also seen Queenslanders finally undergo surgery after years of frustrating delays.
“We are getting results.
“We won’t stop fighting for the honest Queenslanders who’ve been silenced.
“Labor is losing control of the health system.
“The LNP has put solutions on the table for the State Government to adopt including real-time data monitoring, better resources for triaging and more funding on the front line.
“Nambour patients have the same chance to tell their stories about surgery delays, ambulance ramping or long wait times in the emergency department.
“Speaking up can make a difference.”
Shadow Health Minister Ros Bates said all Queenslanders deserve a world class health system no matter where they live.
“As a nurse and former hospital administrator, I know how stressful it can be for our dedicated frontline staff who are overworked and under-resourced,” Ms Bates said.
“Whistle-blowers who’ve worked in the health system for decades have come forward as well.”
Queensland Health Data shows ramping has increased to 52%, while Nambour is 42%.
More than 700 patients are on the waitlist-for-the-waitlist for specialist outpatient appointments.
Ms Bates said the Sunshine Coast has some of the worst ramping rates in the state.
“More than half of all patients are stuck on the back on ambulance for longer than the clinically recommended time of 30 minutes,” Ms Bates said.
