Cabcharge offers $50 free cab ride to get vaccinated

Aussie business Cabcharge is giving away a massive $200,000 worth of free taxi rides to help get NSW fully vaccinated and back to normality.  

COVID restrictions will be eased when up to 70% of eligible adults receive both doses of the jab – and Cabcharge boss Cyrus Asher says the business wants to help NSW people who have been hit hard financially by the lockdowns and would appreciate help to get a safe trip to a vaccination appointment.  

“It could be a frontline worker, a hairdresser desperate to get back to work or residents with special travel needs; we want to ensure no one is left behind for a safe and reliable ride to a vaccination appointment,” Mr Asher, the Chief Customer Officer of Cabcharge said.  

“We want to aid the vaccination initiative across the State and hope other businesses can support this initiative as well,” he said.  Cabcharge is offering a digital voucher worth $50 – which can be used with taxi fleets across NSW – to anyone who needs to travel to get their first or second vaccination.

All they need to do is visit the Cabcharge website and fill in their details and the date of travel for the vaccination.  “Many people are wary of public transport because of the speedy transmission of the Delta virus,” Mr Asher said. 

“And helping people to a vaccination hub is a thoughtful gesture when people have lost their jobs or are experiencing financial stress.”  Mr Asher said if the pilot program was successful, the company may roll it out throughout Australia.

In recent times, Cabcharge has been offering pre- and post-paid cards for those in the community that need to access safe and reliable taxi travel.

More than 4,000 vouchers will be issued within 24 hours of the application, and the applicants will receive their voucher directly on their smartphone.
