Defence chief flew to Hawaii during Afghanistan evacuation mission for talks on COVID-19 and China

Australia’s Defence Chief handed oversight of the Afghanistan rescue mission to his deputy, so he could attend long scheduled security talks in Hawaii focused on other threats such as China.
