An ancient galaxy could reveal details of the formation of the Milky Way.

The Big Bang produced a universe of hydrogen and helium. As the gases came together, stars and galaxies were formed. Then within the stars other elements formed. A group of scientists led by University of Sydney PhD student, Zhen Wan and supervisor Geraint Lewis have discovered a galaxy of ancient stars where the amounts of elements present other than basic hydrogen and helium is lower than found in other galaxies, indicating the cluster is an ancient one, still remaining from the early stars an…
