‘Deeply distressing’: Young Northern Health doctor in ICU with COVID-19 – The Age
Doctors are calling for greater transparency as the number of healthcare workers testing positive for the virus throughout the pandemic topped 1000.
The doctor is one of more than 1000 healthcare workers who have been infected with the virus since the pandemic began.
As of Friday afternoon, there were 614 healthcare workers with active coronavirus infections and hundreds more who have been sidelined due to potential exposure to the virus.
Australasian College for Emergency Medicine President John Bonning said the college had been informed there was a medical trainee in Melbourne who was gravely ill with COVID-19.
