Such is the Swans’ modest profile, Sydney’s decline is yet to fully register there. The downside of their quiet success is the danger of sinking without trace.
Even when Sydneysiders have not adopted them, they have been a good second team to follow. An island in a household of frothing red and white, I have been obliged to watch them most weekends, and they have invariably offered value, a team that constantly punches above its weight and seldom puts in a real stinker.
