Peter Wegner has won the 2021 Archibald prize with his portrait of 100-year-old Guy Warren, titled Portrait of Guy Warren at 100. It was the unanimous choice among the judges, with two other artists highly commended for their works: Jude Rae for her self-portrait Inside Out, and Pat Hoffie for Visaya in a c-collar.
Wegner said when he got a call this morning his wife cried. For me its an amazing thing to happen, he said. Today I would like to thank Guy Warren for sitting and his generosity of spirit.
