Coles and Woolworths are assuring shoppers there’s no need to panic and say demand has only been slightly elevated.
Bare shelves have been seen at some supermarkets in Greater Melbourne as a COVID-19 cluster in the northern suburbs continues to grow.
Acting Victorian Premier James Merlino on Wednesday said the next 24 hours would be critical to avoid another lockdown after the state recorded six more locally acquired COVID-19 cases.
The new cases are close contacts of people who have already tested positive to COVID-19 as part of the City of Whittlesea cluster, which has grown since Monday to 15.
