Newcastle Knights playmaker Blake Green has announced his retirement from rugby league, effective immediately.
The veteran has enjoyed a decorated 14 seasons at the top flight, both in the National Rugby League and English Super League.
Having arrived at Newcastle midway through the 2020 season from the Warriros, Green endured a torrid stroke of luck, suffering a season-ending ACL injury.
Reflecting on his decision, the 34-year-old says his mind and body are still willing, but his body is unable.
