Choice is a strange thing: Too little is oppressive, and too much is overwhelming. This week, Google spent I/O, its annual software conference, trying to thread the needle, increasing Android’s customizability while unifying its smartwatch platform. But if you want more options for pure Android phones, you’re stuck on hold for now. Google remains officially silent on the Pixel 6 or even the Pixel 5a.
