Power supplies to homes and businesses across the lower half of the State are set to be disrupted after Western Power workers began a two-day strike as a long running pay dispute heats up.
About 800 workers downed tools at 5.30am forcing the utility to cancel maintenance and planned work, and there are fears of blackouts in Perth and the South-West if stormy weather forecast for the weekend arrives early.
Repairs to life-threatening network faults, such as hospital power outages, will continue.
