Home of Matildas to be in Melbourne after $116m government backing – Sydney Morning Herald
The state government’s $101 million commitment, along with $15m from the federal government, will see a Home of the Matildas constructed in Melbourne.
The site will become home to Football Victorias administration, ensuring consistent, year-round use by the football community through football, futsal, all-abilities, multicultural and social programs.
Matildas captain, Sam Kerr, fresh from winning the Golden Boot in the English Womens Super League champion team Chelsea and leading them to the Womens Champions League final, said the initiative was exciting for players and the sport.
The team loves playing in Melbourne and we really look forward…
