Santos chief Kevin Gallagher tried to put a COVID spin on his controversial Narrabri project, but its clear opposition remains entrenched.
The sense from many of those who spoke on Monday was that theres that science, and then theres our science.
The departments report was pilloried variously for its inclusions, omissions, inaccuracies and biases, as long-standing points of opposition were repeated. Notably, several opponents responded to what they described as cherry-picked facts in the report by selectively quoting from departmental advice that raised various issues with the project, but ultimately gave it the nod.
