A Cork man who nearly died from a rare flesh eating bug has issued a warning to the public in a bid to raise awareness.
Robbie Walsh was told he had a one in four chance of surviving the bug which he contracted from a small cut on his toe.
The 36-year-old says that in the best case scenario, he would lose his leg to the rare disease called Necrotizing Fasciitis, CorkBeo reports.
However, doctors at the Mercy Hospital worked tirelessly and were able to save his limb.
