Beervax or bust: Let’s pay people to be vaccinated – Sydney Morning Herald
Until Australia has a wide vaccine coverage, it won’t leave COVID-19 behind so let’s try linking cash to the jab.
Payment to be vaccinated can be ethical provided these conditions are met: the vaccination program is reasonable in light of the gravity of the public health threat, the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine and that a trial of non-incentivised vaccination has had insufficient uptake; people understand the risks and benefits; and there is an adequate compensation scheme. Unlike the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and 23 other countries, Australia lacks such a scheme.
