Ocon: P5 in qualifying confirms Alpine F1’s improvement is genuine – Crash
Esteban Ocon says his fifth place in qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix is ‘the confirmation Alpine needed’ of its improved turn of pace in Formula 1.
Ocon starred at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, qualifying fifth just behind Ferraris Charles Leclerc.
The Frenchman beat Alpine teammate Fernando Alonso in qualifying for the third race in succession with the Spaniard only managing tenth on the grid.
There were concerns Alpines improved turn of pace at Portimao were track specific, but Ocon believes Spain shows its improvement is genuine.
