‘A lot left to be desired’: Private health insurers get COVID-19 report card – Sydney Morning Herald

Choice has done a report card on health insurers’ response to the pandemic, pressuring them to give back half a billion dollars saved on unused extras.

Insurers concede they initially saved $515 million on extras services like physiotherapy and $500 million on cancelled elective surgery during the six-week lockdown between March and May, but say this is outweighed by their spending on catch-up procedures and delayed premium rises.
