‘I certainly don’t need to fill a void’
I’m childfree by choice so I will never celebrate Mother’s Day for myself. I’m completely comfortable and happy with that decision.
So, I feel a bit weird when I get messages from people saying, “But you have dogs, so you are a Mum to your furkids! You should celebrate Mother’s Day with your puppies!”
Now I love my dogs with all my heart. I even call myself Mum around them, but I don’t mean it in a literal sense. Obviously. For me, it would be awkward to celebrate Mother’s Day with my pets. I don’t…
