This is weird to me in many ways.
Microsoft plowed through a couple gens of unprofitable Xbox. Could still be unprofitable. PSN was unprofitable for a long time, Sony is notorious for this, and probably still losing money on every PS5 sold. Nintendo has had their bad years and unprofitable systems.
Google hits one or a few presumed road block, promptly quits before getting any kind of foothold despite sitting on untold piles of money and proposing a whole architecture that is supposed to be cheaper…
