After putting off a visit to the doctor’s because of the coronavirus crisis, Alexander Gupman was dealt a devastating diagnosis.
Of all the places melanoma can lurk on the body, Alexander Gupmans skin cancer showed up on his ear.
Hed been watching the spot for years, a mole-like growth on the cartilage near his left ear canal, but it didnt seem to change so doctors werent concerned.
In 2020, the first year hed skipped his annual skin check because of the coronavirus crisis, a seven-year-old friend of his daughter looked at him and said, Your ear looks funny, Alex.
I didnt take it seriously in November, the 47-year-old said.
