Colac mayor calls for urgent lockdown to control outbreak – The Age
Colac Otway’s mayor wants a two-week lockdown to curb one of regional Victoria’s biggest outbreaks, as the head of the Victorian branch of the AMA urges regional Victorians to ‘mask-up’.
“Weve sort of gone into a self-imposed lockdown,” he said. “A lot of people havent sent their kids to school. My kids are not going to school.”
He said a fortnight-long lockdown in the area would allow authorities to conduct extensive testing and contact tracing to control the spread of the virus.
“In a small regional town, theres a heightened level of anxiety and fear about this.”
