‘It’s staggering’: Cricket greats left shocked by Warner’s IPL captaincy axing – Fox Sports
Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has described the decision by SunRisers Hyderabad to strip Australian David Warner of the captaincy as “staggering”.
Appearing on a ESPN Cricinfo video, Vettori, talking alongside former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar, was left bamboozled by the IPL franchises decision.
On Saturday night, the franchise released a statement that New Zealander Kane Williamson would replace Warner for the rest of the season and hinted the Australian could be dropped in a reshuffle.
The IPL franchise has acted suddenly with SunRisers last on standings, having won one from six matches.
