Welcome to the ABC’s live blog of the 2021 TAS state election

Hello! My name is James Dunlevie and tonight I will be ably assisted by ABC Hobart state political reporter Alexandra Humphries in bringing you the results of the count as they come to hand.

While the Tasmanian Liberals are hoping to be returned to government — with Peter Gutwein in his first test at the ballot box as leader — Labor and the Greens are hoping that plan comes unstuck and voters choose otherwise.

On top of all that, there is a Legislative Council election happening as well (that’s the Upper House).
