NGO stages burial to protest Brazil’s COVID deaths
Activists from the Rio de Paz (Rio for Peace) non-governmental organization marked the milestone of 400,000 confirmed deaths in Brazil by acting out a symbolic burial on Copacabana beach on Friday.
Some 180 body bags were deployed on the beach during the demonstration in memory of Brazilians who have died from the virus during the pandemic.
Volunteers participating in the act, dressed in hazmat suits as they buried empty body bags covered with Brazilian flags.
