Kelly Wilkinson’s accused killer wakes from coma, informed of charges

The man accused of murdering Gold Coast mother Kelly Wilkinson by setting her alight has awoken from his coma in a Brisbane hospital and been told of his charges.

Ms Wilkinson’s body was discovered in the garden of her Arundel home last Tuesday morning after neighbours called police to report a disturbance.
Her estranged husband Brian Earl Johnston, 34, was charged with three offences, including murder, over her death.
Mr Johnston remains under police guard in hospital after sustaining serious burns to his hands and airway.
