Organisers of the 2021 Oscars ceremony promised it would be like no other but the event’s abrupt ending certainly got tongues wagging in the entertainment industry and beyond.
Anthony Hopkins took out best actor for his role in The Father, causing a major upset with the top gong widely expected to go to the late Chadwick Boseman.
There was no acceptance speech, no on-stage tribute to the Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom star, and nothing else after the announcement, pretty much.
