When Mark McInnes announced his departure from Premier Investments, there was only one person Solomon Lew wanted for the job: JB Hi-Fi’s Richard Murray.
But when McInnes said in January he would step down after spending a decade in the role and helping turn Premier into one of Australias most profitable retailers, Lew quickly tapped Murray on the shoulder to test the waters.
