Organisers of the 2021 Oscars ceremony promised it would be like no other — but the event’s abrupt ending certainly got tongues wagging in the entertainment industry and beyond.
Anthony Hopkins took out best actor for his role in The Father, causing a major upset with the top gong widely expected to go to the late Chadwick Boseman.
There was no acceptance speech, no on-stage tribute to the Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom star, and … nothing else after the announcement, pretty much.
