Australia’s oldest living Victoria Cross recipient has spoken at Mackay’s Anzac Day service.

87-year-old Keith Payne received the country’s highest military honour for his bravery in the Vietnam War. He told 7NEWS what Anzac Day means to him and what it represents for all Australians.

“Anzac Day is the day that belongs to all Australians. It doesn’t matter what age they are or when they were born because it stands as an opening to our nation.” – Victoria Cross recipient Keith Payne.
