Sandwell Council is urging people to stay at home and get tested if they have any symptoms
Cases of coronavirus in Smethwick have accelerated suddenly, causing an urgent alert from public health chiefs.
A total of 35 new cases have now been reported in a week – TEN times the number at the end of June.
Sandwell Councils public health director Dr Lisa McNally urged people in the town to be extra vigilant and to stay at home if they had any symptoms, no matter how minor, as officials battle to contain the virus.
